A Weekend of Discovery For All Gay Men
Principles of Gay Soul Making say that our purpose and potential as a gay people starts from an inner center that reveals our being gay is important and substantial and meaningful, and it provides an essential inner vision to guide and shape our behavior, our lives and our growth.
This workshop is designed to foster initiation into these inner realms. It is based on sharing, growing, discovering roots, confronting fears, becoming whole and real with not only each other, but also our individual gay selves. Activities combine principles of energy medicine with native healing practices, insight from gay-centered psychology, and related enactment techniques. The activities are cumulative and progressive over the course of two days and work on several different levels at once.
The Personal Biographical Level
You will participate in a series of encounters, such as revisiting those times when you first discovered you were gay. Discussions are interactive, experiential and integrative and, in the workings, you'll be introduced to some of the ways that native people walk the Soul Making path, as well.
The Symbolic Level
You will also be introduced to the practices of the sand painters - the magic making of the archetypal artists - who do their work on the symbolic level as a means of setting energy into motion. It’s a focused means for participants to progressively open pathways to a new birth taking form.
The Mythic Level
Enacting ritual is a key to opening the mythic realms, be it through holding sacred space for the purposes of our work, walking the great round, or participating in other ceremony. Participants will learn of similar historical roles that gay people have performed, roles and purposes that have existed from the very earliest of times.
The Visionary Level
You will also be led into encounters with imaginal states awareness, journeying from past to present and into the future as an exercise of vision. You will learn the future is not fixed and be taught how you can better align yourself with your visions – or not – through the activities of your everyday life.
